Since the first day of class, I knew that this year would be full of different assignments that would broaden my knowledge on many things. I was very confused on how to work the WIX website, but over the past weeks I was able to figure it out with the help of you! The index cards in the beginning of class were a great tool to get our brains going and something that I would sometimes look back at if one contained an important definition or statement regarding something with our homework.

Starting with project one, the personal narrative was probably the easiest project for me. I liked writing when I was younger and to be able to create a story of my own made me excited. Not going off the typical format that I had learned in high school was very different, but it allowed me to incorporate dialogue and pieces of writing that I hadn’t done before. I did struggle with my draft, but after the conference with you and the critiques I received, I was able to pull it together and get an A. This gave me a lot more hope for future projects and allowed me to share a story about my Uncle Scotty that really hit home.

Moving into project two, this was probably where I struggled the most. Since we had to figure out how to format this, I got pretty confused. There were so many elements that needed to be pieced together, but with the help of your WIX website and tips for project two, I was able to finally figure it out. I started by explaining my club and the community visit because I thought that this would be helpful to the readers. I enjoyed doing my community visit because I was so passionate about the fashion community. The interview was fun for me as well because I asked questions that I genuinely wanted the answer to. I gained knowledge on things that I can apply to in the future regarding interviews and internships and also gained a greater passion for fashion. In the end, I was very happy with how my second project turned out and it really helped set me up for project three. I felt like I had all the information I needed right in front of me.

Lastly, we completed project three. Project three for me was a lot of fun. I am a very creative person who loves social media, so I had fun remediating my paper into the three genres. The Instagram page I made is one I hope to grow in the future to help out others by inspiring them. I then made a Pinterest board. Pinterest is something I love getting inspiration from so making this board was not boring for me. On my board, I pinned helpful guides on how to answer interview questions, what to expect from an internship, and clothing that will make you stand out from others. I pinned multiple outfit ideas since my topic was focused around fashion. For my final podcast, I talked about my community visit because I thought that was where I had the most information. I also incorporated my personal feature podcast. I struggled creating this podcast because I wanted to make sure that I incorporated only useful information and didn’t blabber on. I tend to go on about things that aren’t that important, so for this I wrote out my whole podcast and then revised that writing before I did the final recording.

Aside from the projects, I found class time very useful. I wanted to thank you for answering questions that we had during class time. I thought it was helpful hearing the confusion of others and using the clarity you gave us to clarify any of our personal concerns. The podcasts that we started recording in the beginning of the year were also very useful. I enjoyed doing these because I knew that this was helping me build up for my final project. I would try to take my time with these and really talk about what was important to me. I found it helpful that we could listen to other people’s podcasts to see different points of views.

All in all, I found that this class taught me many aspects of writing that I didn’t know before. I had never not followed the typical high school writing format and not doing so allowed the creative side of me to come out and create a better paper. Thank you for being so helpful throughout the course and for providing us with the examples and clarity we needed. I think this year went really well for me and I can’t wait to apply what I have learned from ENC 2135 to things in the future!
